The Solstice Trio
The Solstice Trio was founded in 2006 with their first performance in the newly-opened Solstice Arts Centre, Navan, Ireland. The group specialises in the composition and performance of 20th and 21st century English language art-songs. Their repertoire includes works by Britten, Finzi, Ireland and Feeley, with poetic texts by Rossetti, Shakespeare, Tennyson and Yeats. The trio consists of soprano and baritone with piano accompaniment. All members of the group are active professionals in the fields of music performance and education.
The group has performed throughout Ireland at festivals and literary events, and gives a number of recitals each year. Recent engagements include an afternoon of English song in Castletown House, Celbridge, Co. Kildare, and an evening recital in the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan, Co. Meath.
Our next recital of art-songs takes place in Dalgan Park, Navan, Co. Meath, on Sunday 24 February 2013 at 3pm. Tickets at door: €15.00. To mark the Britten centenary, a special feature of this concert will be a selection of Britten folksong arrangements.
